Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been handed a one-match ban and fined £50,000 for an offensive social media post, the English FA announced. The Tottenham midfielder posted a video on Snapchat before the pandemic in February making fun of an Asian man in an airport, but later pull the post down before he apologized.

The video showed a man of Asian descent and was captioned: ‘Corona whatttttt, please listen with volume.’ In the next part of the Snapchat story, Alli can be seen wearing a mask while appearing to feign concern.

He flashes a bottle of handwash and captioned: ‘This virus gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.’ The FA deemed the post offensive and insulting, and argued it was in breach of A Rule E3(1).

The ban now implies Dele Alli will not be available for Spurs home game against rivals Man United and must also attend a face-to-face education course.
