Governor Obado will be prosecuted alongside his wife, four children and six others over the embezzlement of over Ksh73 million public funds.
DPP Haji orders arrest of Governor Obado
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) initiated a probe into the allegations of misappropriation of funds from public coffer through a facility web.
“Zackary Okoth Obado indirectly and in a conflict of interest received a benefit totalling to Ksh73,474,376.90 from companies and businesses that traded with Migori County Government.” Reads a statement in part from the DPP.
The trail by the EACC from the companies disclosed that Ksh.38,949,376.90 was wired to accounts held by Governor Obado’s children, namely: Dan Achola Okoth, Susan Scarlet Okoth, Adhiambo Evelyne Okoth and Jerry Zachary Okoth.
It was further revealed that Ksh.34,525,000 was used to purchase a house in Loresho Ridge in Nairobi’s Westlands whose beneficial is Evelyne Adhiambo Zachary, Obado’s daughter.
The cash was also used to settle his children’s school fees, upkeep, maintenance and medical bills in Australia, Scotland and the United Kingdom. High-range vehicles were also bought using the public fund – Toyota Land Cruiser V8.
Haji’s report disclosed all the companies entangled in the graft syndicate as; Tarchdog Printers, De1track ICT services, Seletrack Consultants, Mactebac Contractors, Joyush Business, Swyfcon Engineering,
