Mwahimu died on Monday night, August 24, at around 11 p.m. at his home in Vyemani, Likoni sub-county, Mombasa. According to Nation, The legislator’s family disclosed that he died of asthma-related complications.

Mwahimu, had received treatment at St Thomas Hospital. When he was discharged on Sunday he headed back to his home but his silence saw his family go to check him only to find him dead.

The former MP is reported to have been suffering from a number of health complications. Mwahimu’s death came weeks after former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe’s death who succumbed to COVID-19 complications.
