Bodies of two infants have been retrieved by Sonko Rescue Team from a section of the Nairobi River near Korogocho area. The two bodies now brings the total number of bodies recovered from the river to 21 bodies include 16 infants and 5 adults.
According to Fredrick Okinda, who was leading the clean-up duty,“One of us noticed a paper bag floating around and when he went on to open it, he was shocked to find remains of an infant and minutes later, we found another body of a girl dumped around the same area.”
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on other hand urged the government saying “I think the police have a big role to play. l know they have been working tirelessly to curb this vice but we note that it’s beginning to resurface again. They will need to be more vigilant.”
The governor also asked the locals to be on watch and be committed to help report those raising behaviour. Adding, he promised to invite agencies to conduct a probe and uncover the real problem affecting the society.
